Built on the remains of Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) overseas railroad. Later bypassed by an expanded highway in 1972. The Overseas Highway and Railway Bridges were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
Accompanying note: "Air view of Bahia Honda Bridge on the famous Overseas Highway, Florida, showing recreation center and picnic area."
