Description
The 48th Annual Florida State Fair includes the Gasparilla Pirate Celebration in which men dress as pirates and sail into Tampa Bay. Parades, circus acts, produce displays, industry displays and livestock displays from all over the state are shown. Viewers see a car race and car stunts. The film also shows "Negro Day" with marching bands, track events and the presentation of the "Outstanding Negro of the Year Award." The 4-H Club is shown and Florida Secretary of Agriculture Nathan Mayo presents awards. Future Homemakers are shown making cookies. Cigar making is shown and a human cannonball flies. An underwater kitchen features a mermaid housewife. A parade features many floats and costumes. This is a wonderful Kodachrome film. Produced by Ball Productions of Miami; sponsored by the Florida State Advertising Commission and the Florida State Fair and Gasparilla Association.

It shows scenes of a football game, baseball, fastpitch softball (men's and women's), children on a playground, dog racing, mermaids, a parade, a woman feeding a squirrel, people on a beach, spring training, Bok Tower, Indian Village, people stopped along the roadside picking oranges, a family cookout, a hydroplane taking off and landing in water, and horse racing.

Description
This film shows odd occupations at Florida's Silver Springs and Weeki Wachee Springs. At Silver Springs, William Crowell, senior glass-bottom boat captain, takes visitors on a tour down the Silver River. Max Hooten, underwater gardener, is then shown clipping eel grass in the spring. Jack McCurchen and Mike Mouse scrub the underwater windows of the glass-bottom boats while wearing scuba gear. The film them moves to Weeki Wachee Springs where John Hamlet, animal psychologist, feeds the animals during a tour on the Congo Belle. There is footage of the Otter-Torium and Snoball the heron. Finally, Marilyn Nagel, producer and trainer of the mermaids, choreographs a show from inside the underwater theater. This film ends abruptly.

This home movie begins with Thanksgiving dinner at the Russo's. Next is Lance's birthday and opening gifts with Mom and Dad. The film continues with a family visit to the Lewis Plantation. There are scenes of workers' cabins, an African-American child dancing on a deck, and buildings and structures on the plantation. The film continues with scenes of Weeki Wachee Springs and its mermaids and ends with the Gasparilla Celebration in Tampa.
