Quarter Master General of Florida:
The Congress of the United States having, at its last
session made an appropriation "For reimbursing the State of Florida, under such rules and
"regulations as have heretofore governed the adjustment of similar claims of the several
"States on the United States, for moneys advanced and paid for expenses incurred and
"obligations contracted by said State, for subsistence, supplies and services of local troops
"called into service during the year 1849, by and under the authority of said State, seventy
"five thousand dollars." And the 2d Auditor of the Treasury Department having informed
me "that it will be necessary to forward to this office complete Muster and Pay-Rolls,
"shewing [sic] the periods of service and the amount paid to each person by the State, with re-
ceipted bills for all supplies paid for by the State, for the use of said troops:"
You will therefore proceed, with as little delay as practicable,
to notify the companies of Volunteers called into service by Gov. Moseley, during the year
1849, to assemble at the places where their companies, respectively, were mustered out of
service, for the purpose of being paid off. And to all persons having claims yet unpaid, for
supplies furnished said troops, to meet at one of the respective places, with their bills and
vouchers in proper form for payment. Thomas Brown.
In obedience to the foregoing General Order, notice is
hereby given that I will be at the following places, on the days and during the hours specified,
for the purpose of executing the said General Order, to wit:
In the City of Tallahassee, at the office which was formerly
the Central Bank of Florida, on Thursday and Friday, the 8and 9days of May instant, from the hour of 9 oclock
in the morning until the hour of 5 o'clock in the afternoon, on each of said days: at which time and place the officers, non-commissioned
officers and private of Capt. Fisher's Company of Mounted Men and Capt. Johnson's Company of Infantry, from
the County of Leon, or their properly authorized representation, are hereby notified to attend.
At the Town of Alligator, in the County of Columbia, on
Friday and Saturday, the 16and 17instant, within the hours above specified on those days. The officers, non-commissioned
officers and privates of Capt. Ellis and Capt. Knights Companies of Mounted Men or their properly authorized
representatives, are notified to attest.
At the town of Newnansville, in the County of Alachua, on
Monday, the 19th instant, within the same hours as above specified. The officers, non-commissioned efforts and privates of
Capt. Dell's Company of Mounted Men, or their properly authorized representatives are notified to attend.
And at the Town of Jacksonville, in the County of Duval, on
Thursday, the 22d instant, within the hours before specified. The officers, non-commissioned officers and private of Captain
Ledwiths Company of Mounted Men, or their properly authorized representative, are notified to attend. And all persons
