Description
One reel to reel recording. Boltin served as emcee. Tribute to banjoist Paul Champion, who died in February 1986. Born 23 March 1938, Champion was a nationally recognized banjoist who wrote several instructional banjo manuals. In the early 1960s, he and Jim (later Gamble) Rogers were playing local clubs, along with Will McLean. He even recorded the soundtrack for the low-budget horror film 2000 Maniacs (directed by Herschel Gordon Lewis), filmed in Orlando. By the time of his death, he was a Florida Folk Festival regular, and major influence upon many Florida musicians.
