Description

This 14:27, black and white sound film, shows the Tarpon Club, Florida State University's swim team, perform a synchronized aquatic show entitled "A Dip in Dixie" in February 1964 at FSU's Montgomery Gymnasium. After a brief introduction to Florida State University and the Tarpon Club, a performance features twelve "Minnows", the uninitiated Tarpon Club members, in minstrel-styled swimsuits with lapels, ties, top hats, white gloves and canes; the swimmers perform to a banjo tune. Next, "Three Southern Belles" is performed by three swimmers to a piano music. Followed by "Tara" which is performed by two swimmers to classical music. Finally, a large group performs to "Dixie".
