Vote "YES" For Library!

Who? ALL FREEHOLDERS (LANDOWNERS) IN MARION COUNTY.
When? ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH, AT THE GENERAL ELECTIONS
Why? TO PROVIDE:
- FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE TO ALL RESIDENTS.
- SUPPORT FOR EXISTING LIBRARIES, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF OTHER BRANCH LIBRARIES.
- SERVICE TO REMOTE AREAS OF COUNTY.
- EXPANDED AND IMPROVED LIBRARY SERVICE THROUGH MORE BOOKS, MORE AND BETTER-TRAINED PERSONNEL, AND MORE EFFICIENT LIBRARY OPERATION.

BACKGROUND
The operation of our public library has been a joint endeavor of the city and county. The demand of Marion Countians living outside Ocala for library service has grown. In 1961-62, 55% of the library's users lived in the county, outside Ocala, while the county government paid only about 20% of the cost.
For several years, the county commissioners were asked for increased county funds for the library. They doubted that the public would approve, and denied these requests. The county's modest support has ended. A fee for use of the library is now charged to non-residents of the city.
The Commissioners have asked for an expression of the people. They will support an improved and expanded County Library if a majority vote "YES" on November 5th.
Some may fear increased taxes. But the county commission can legally provide this support without increasing the tax rate. Even if the special millage is levied, its cost to the individual taxpayer would be small. To illustrate:
