Wakulla Slashes Ambulance Funds

CRAWFORDVILLE-

Wakulla County Commission has reversed itself and removed $25,500 from the proposed budget for ambulance service leaving a total of only $6,000 of the original $31,500 placed in the tentative budget for the operation of the service by the Sheriff Department of Wakulla County.

Commissioner Hugh McCallister, made the motion for the reduction, Commissioner J.D. Turner seconding the motion. It carried with no dissenting votes.

The new budget approved by the board was 32 days overdued in the State Comptroller's where it is required to be filed by law, August 1.

The ambulance was turned over to Sheriff W.R. Taff at the County Commission meeting July 2 to be put into service and oeprated.

Although $88,904 was budgeted for the Sheriff's office for Poluce protection of the county no funds were udgeted for community fire protection throughout the county by the commission at their Wednesday meeting.

Outer business concluded by the board included the purchase of a drag line at an estimated cost of $39,452.02, according to Clerk Moody Pearce.
