Description

This flier advertised a march and rally to demand compensation for Freddie Pitts and Wilbert Lee, two African-Americans who were imprisoned for a number of years before being pardoned by Governor Reubin Askew. The two had never received a trial, as they had been coerced into pleading guilty. Organizations participating in this rally and march included the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Teachers, the Big Bend Central Labor Council, the Tallahassee Branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, and others. The march was set for May 22, 1978.
