HEALTHY AMERICANS ARE NEEDED!
You and your baby will be healthier if you live wisely and eat the right foods during pregnancy
SEE YOUR DOCTOR REGULARLY
Do exactly as he tells you
DO NOT GAIN TOO MUCH WEIGHT
You should not gain more than 20 or 25 pounds unless you were underweight before pregnancy
If you gain too fast, or make a sudden gain, see your doctor AT ONCE
If the doctor says you are eating too much, eat less grits and rice, bread, sweets, and fats. DO NOT CUT DOWN ON VEGETABLES, EGGS, LEAN MEAT, OR MILK (Use skim milk or buttermilk)
HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT EVERY DAY
Eat raw fruits and vegetables, leafy vegetables, and brown bread and cereals
Go to the bathroom at a regular time every day. Do not take medicine unless the doctor tells you to
Drink six glasses of water unless the doctor tells you not to
TAKE SOME EXERCISE EVERY DAY
Walk out of doors in the sunshine
GET PLENTY OF REST AND SLEEP
Lie down for an hour every day
Sleep at least eight hours every night
