SYNOPSIS
Mr. John Smith, owner of race horses, resides in flat No. 19 Mona Mansions. The Rev. John Smith has just rented, during his wife's absence flat No. 69 Mona Mansions. Upon her return she gets into the wrong flat, No. 19.
Mr. John Smith is greatly perplexed over the presence of a strange lady in his flat and before he solves the mystery his wife unexpectedly returns from Dover, but not until Mrs. Ponting, the new housekeeper, Mr. Desmond, his guest, Miss Fotheringay, an actress who calls, and Col. Smith, his uncle, as well as Mr. Duffell, a detective whom he has employed, have met a "Mable" the Rev. J. Smith's wife and mistaker her for the real mistress of No. 69 Mona Mansions. When Nora, Mr. John Smith's wife comes home noe one believes her to be the rightful mistress. Mr. Duffell attempts her arrest as a fraudulent character known as Matilda Scraggs, or the Duchess of Picadilly. Mr. Smith protests the arrest, whereupon Mr. Duffell thinks him a confederate of Matilda Scraffs and is about to arrest them both when a newsboy is heard shoing the arrest of the Duchess in Paris.
When the Rev. John Smith comes upon the scene, his wife's presence in the wrong flat is explained much to the relief of Mr. Smith who has had a lively time "Facing the Music."
