TO ALL WHO SHALL SEE THESE PRESENTS, GREETING:

Know Ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the Patriotism, valor, Fidelity, and Abilities of

Lew B. Brown,

I do hereby appoint him Major Commmanding the Pinellas county Guards fo Florida. To rank as such from the 23 day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen. He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duties appertaining to such office, by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging.

And I do strictly charge and require all Officers and men under his command to be obedient to his orders as such officer. And he is to observe and follow such orders and directions from time to time, as is provided by law and the rules of regulations governing the County Guards of Florida.

This Commission to continue in effect for a term of four years from this date unless otherwise sooner determined and annulled as provided by law.

Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State, at the City of Tallahassee, this 23rd day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeed, and in the one hundred and forty second year of the Independence of the United States.
