(Notes taken from County Commissioners Minutes ) letter A. Page 217
Monday, Feb. 7, 1887
"Moved and carried that the following resolution be placed upon the Minutes "To wit" where as an election held on the 30th day of September A.D. 1886 for County site of Baker County Florida the town of McClenny in said county received a majority of all votes cast at said election and thereby because said county site and where as a new Courthouse has been erected at said county site by Hon. C. B. McClenny which said Courthouse is now ready for occupancy.
It is therefore ordered that J. H. Van-bukink, , [sheriff] of said county shall proceed at once to move all the public property of said county from Sanderson late county site to McClenny now the county site and place said property in said new Courthouse employing therefore suitable help at the expense of said county ordered further that hereafter all the public business required by law to be transacted at the county site shall be transacted at McClenny, and, all officers required by law to hold their office at the county site shall remove at once their office to the Courthouse in said town of McClenny, Ayes,-Rowe-Rice-Berry. Nays, Jennings-Thompson
Moved and seconded court adjourn to meet next Monday at McClenny.

"The petitions asking for a change of location of the county site of said county was rendered by Mr. J. D. Merrit and on motion it was resolved that a committee of two of the board with the Clerk examine said petition and report at next meeting of the board said committee Wm. Jennings, D. H. Rowe, and Clerk."

This being a call meeting for the pupose of receiving the report of the Committee appointed at the last regular meeting of the board of County Commissioners for decision asato [sic] the petition presented asking for an election tobe [sic] ordered as the law directs for removal of the county site.
The commitee beg to report that they find the registered no one-third of the registered voters on said petition. The election being that it was voted by majority of the board that the election be ordered to take place on Thursday, the 30th day of September next.

"The board of County Commissioners met this 5th day of October A.D. 1886. Present, J.C. Williams, Chairman, Wm. Jennings, W. J. Thompson, D. H. Rowe, and G. R. Rice, Commissioners.
For the purpose of canvassing the vote of election held on the 30th day of September at the Varnes Precincts held in said county, after the usual Proclomatim [sic] and examinatim [sic] of of [sic] the returns, we find that for County site of Baker County, Florida, McClenny received 241 votes and against removal of County site from Sanderson received 207 votes giving majority for county site of Baker County Florida, McClenny thirth [sic]-four votes.
