THE PANHANDLES SPRING FED, CRYSTAL CLEAR, LAZY RIVER
Enjoy an average 3-hour round trip on the spring-fed Wakulla River.
Beginning your canoe adventure at TNT HIDEAWAY is an outing designed for the young, elderly and entire family.
Leisurely paddle the 3 1/2 mile crystal clear, tree lined river to the upper bridge at Highway 365. Just beyond the bridge is the fence to protect Wakulla Springs Wildlife Refuge. A sandy boat ramp provides access to land for resting, snacking, and cooling off. The return trip offers a second opportunity of wildlife sightings.
The overflow of wildlife from the refuge provides a haven for bird watchers, turtle loves, alligator sightings, occassional raccoons, deer, wild boar and otters. Osprey and herons are numerous and often the bald eagle is seen.
TNT HIDEAWAY is open year-round offering scenery that is never tiring. Every month of the year offers a different foliage of numerous flowering platns as well as duck families, Osprey nesting, and Manatee sightings.
During the spring and summer months the Manatee is often seen as it makes its yearly trip from South Florida waters to the North Western waters of the Panhandle.
Falls changing colors of the Cypress, oaks and the foliage makes picture taking a necessity.
During the winter months after the foliage has died down, you can see deep into the woods making it more possible to sight a deer or a wild boar.
