Description
This documentary about Nikitas Tsimouris, a Greek tsabouna player, and his family describes the history of the instrument and its construction, Greek culture and traditions, and the history of the Tsimouris family. There are scenes of Nikitas Tsimouris playing the tsabouna, a type of Greek bagpipe, while his sister Nomiki A. Tsimouris sings and scenes from the Epiphany Day celebration in Tarpon Springs. The film is a co-production of Wedu Television and the Florida Folklife Program, and was funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, Folk Arts Program. It was written and produced by Nancy Michael with Peggy Bulger as project director and Yvonne Bryant and Debra Robinson as production assistants. Russ Offenbach is the narrator.
