Dear Pat,
I guess you are called Pat, but in any case it is less formal than "Miss [Stephens]"! My name is Alexia Pincus, but everyone calls me "Lex." I work for the NCCJ in New York as Secretary to the Education
Director and we are involved in lots of very fascinating work in the field of human relations and intergroup relations. Of course this is where I heard of you and your friends and where I got the addresses and names to write. I am sure you will all be bombarded with mail for many of my friends are very much in sympathy with you and what you have been brave enough to do and all of us want to write to give you [our] best wishes and encouragement in any way we can. If there is anything that we can send you - books, newspapers, magazines, food, - anything - please let me know you will get it once!
To tell you a little more about myself, I am now 22 and graduated last June from Cornell University where I majored in home Economics and minored in History. I am a native New Yorker but this year I moved into my own apartment with a girl friend who is a social worker on the Lower East Side of the city. We live right near Central Park which we both love and our apartment is a big old brownstone house with two fireplaces (neither of which work!0 and lots of atmosphere. I hope if you [or] any of your friends come to the city that you would stay with us - we have lots of space - extra couches, sleeping bags, rugs, etc. OK?
My jobs keep me pretty busy from 9 to 5 every day and then my boyfriend, Lou, keeps me busy the rest of the time, so there [illegible, torn] a dull moment. I do extra volunteer work in [illegible, torn] on the Lower East Side and also lots of [illegible, torn] high school youth group. Recently I have been [illegible, torn] rallies and picket line as well on weekends [illegible, torn] any way I can with what I believe is a most [illegible, torn] of all of us young people, students, etc. who [illegible, torn] the injustices that are going on here.
If you get a chance to write, my home address is 60 West 87th [illegible, torn] New York 24, New York but I will keep writing to all [illegible, torn] anyway. Good luck and best wishes.
Lex
