Dear Patricia + Priscilla Stephens,

We are from the Flushing Free Synagogue and while at a conclave in Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in New York City Meritt Spaulding explained to us the situation in Tallahassee. We were shocked by the way you were put into prison for the demonstrations.

We discussed your problem for quite awhile and Meritt suggested we write to you to give some encouragement.

As far as we know, all the Woolworth stores in N.Y. are being picketed. There are many people here giving support to CORE and we hope, as you do, that everything

Dear Patricia + Priscilla Stephens,

We discussed your problem for quite awhile and Meritt suggested we write to you to give some encouragement.

As far as we know, all the Woolworth stores in N.Y. are being picketed. There are many people here giving support to CORE and we hope, as you do, that everything

will turn out [all right] for you. We know that it is very easy for us to sit here and discuss these happenings; we certainly admire you for staying in jail and forfeiting your school work.

Please write to us because we would like to hear what is happening.
