Dear friends --
The sit-ins in Tallahassee and throughout the south have snapped a lot of people out of their lethargy. I salute you who are in Jail in Tallahassee and I send you my warmest greetings. CORE dispatches indicate that you remain steadfast and in good spirits.
I'm a public school teacher here in Tucson, and it's especially heartening to me that this movement toward full citizenship and human dignity was inaugurated by students. Who said this generation of students is the "silent generation"?
That a number of white students showed their solidarity with negro students in Tallahassee is also cause for rejoicing.
Let me extend a welcome and offer of hospitality to each of you should your paths ever lead to Tucson.
