THE ALTAMONTE is an attractive hotel with a home atmosphere, located in one of the most beautiful garden spots in the state, its 40 acres of private grounds covered with tall southern pines, live oaks and palms. THE ALAMONTE is situated on Lake Orienta and its connecting lakes, in the central part of Florida. It is fifty miles from the famous Daytona Beach and nine miles north of Orlando. Four miles from the hotel is Winter Park and its well known Rollins College, which offers many attractions to hotel quests in lectures and musicals. This section has an ideal and healthful climate. ATTRACTIONS at the Altamonte are numerous besides its scenic beauty. Spacious porches and a large lobby make ideal meeting places for activities such as bridge, pool and entertainments. Golf on the hotel's sporty nine hole golf course, with its weekly tournaments, putting green, shuffleboard, sun bathing, boating, fishing and picking your own oranges in the hotel grove are only a few of the attractions offered to guests without extra charge. Relaxing at Shuffleboard OUR ROOMS AND RATES All rooms are outside rooms and the main house of three stories provides quarters convenient to everything. Rooms are single and en suite, with or without bath. There are also separate bungalows with separate entrances, with a beautiful view over Lake Orienta. All rooms are steam heated or with open fire places. Rates are on the American Plan (with meals). Rooms with bath, single are from $53. to $84. Double $90. to $135. Single without bath $45. to $55. Hotel Golf Course SPECIAL RATES Special rates will be made for the month of January and March. A special rate is available for those coming for the entire season, January, February, March and part of April. Reservations should be made in advance with one week's board to assure reservation space. The hotel with all its facilities will be in readiness to open January 1st. TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES Transportation by rail to Winter Park, air line to Orlando Airport. Auto route #17 from Jacksonville and about nine miles south of Sanford, turn right just beyond town of Caselberry, proceed two miles to the hotel. The hotel was built in 1883 by the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Company. The hotel burned on July 1, 1953.
