Description

Letter from journalist Juanita Greene to George Beebe, the managing editor for the Miami Herald, regarding her research for her Miami Herald article series about how Cuban people are responding to Fidel Castro's government. Greene describes meeting American and Cuban officials at the American Embassy's Fourth of July party. Greene also writes about interviewing her maid Josie and Josie's friends and relatives.

General Note

Juanita Greene joined the Miami Herald in 1956. In the months after the Cuban Revolution ended in 1959, Greene wrote a series of reports for the Herald from Cuba about Fidel Castro's government, communism and the Cuban people. She became the newspaper's first environmental writer in 1969.
