Description

Letter from journalist Juanita Greene to Larry Jinks, managing editor for the Miami Herald, describing her thoughts on the nature of the newspaper business and her work for an upcoming article about the civil rights movement in Chicago. At the time, she was studying urban problems at Northwestern University in Chicago.

General Note

Juanita Greene joined the Miami Herald in 1956. In the months after the Cuban Revolution ended in 1959, Greene wrote a series of reports for the Herald from Cuba about Fidel Castro's government, communism and the Cuban people. She became the newspaper's first environmental writer in 1969.
