Description
Correspondence between Julia B. Timmons and Governor Doyle E. Carlton regarding money Timmons had deposited in Ocala's Metropolitan Savings Bank before it closed. Timmons writes she and her child had checking accounts with the bank but cannot withdraw their money.
General Note
In 1910, George A. Sheehy, George Giles, Frank P. Gadson, Ruben S. Mithcell, Manuel C. Falana, John D. McDuffy, James S. LaRoche, Charles H. Stewart, and William P. Wilson organized the Metropolitan Realty and Investment Company as a corporation under Florida law. The company bought real estate in Ocala, Florida, and built several businesses, including Ocala’s Metropolitan Savings Bank in September 1913. Giles served as president of the bank, Gadson as the cashier, and Professor Joseph L. Wiley was the bank’s vice president. Additional founding members of the bank included David W. Goodwin, S. H. Hadley, Neptune T. Brown, and Dr. Reden Reche Williams.

Dear sir
I deposit some money in the Ocala Metropolitan Saving Bank private for safe keeping, in a private Box, and I and then also my child had some money in that Bank checking account and the bank is closed and they will not pay me any of the money They say I cant get it
They kept my statement three month’s before they would send it to me. And when they did send it I am three hundred dollars and some over short of the money I had deposit in
