Accompanying note "Local restaurateur Pam Maneeratana shows off three intricately crafted pumpkins using a carving technique called kaesalak, a 700 year-old art carving technique from Thailand."
Kae Sa Luk is a 700 year-old craft taught to school girls while learning culinary skills. The usual motif was floral. Pam Manaeeratana uses a bird's beak knife, which was specially ordered from Thailand. Ms. Maneeratana's mother was the cook for Bahn Thai, a family-owned restaurant in Tallahassee.
