The mansion belonged to William Henry Wesley and Katie Strickland Wesley.
Note from sleeve: "Orange trees once grew close enough for fruit to be picked from the 2nd floor porch. After the family lumber business died, in the depression, the upstairs bedrooms were converted to apartments. Bought in 1963 by heiress Lois Maxon who restored, remodeled, and filled the mansion with antiques. Maxon opened the house for tours. Maxon gave the house and 10.5 acres at the edge of Choctawhatchee Bay, to the state in 1968."
Biographical Note
The mansion was built of native yellow pine in 1896.
