General Note
According to John Henry Pittman, who for many years ran one of the stores in Two Egg, two young boys often came into his store on errands for their mother to trade two eggs for sugar. Regulars soon began to jokingly call the establishment a "two egg store." The name eventually caught on and was picked up by travelling salesmen and others who spread it to nearby towns.
