Allen Morris' syndicated column "Cracker Politics" ran in 15 Florida newspaper from 1940 until 1966. His legislative awards for "Best in debate", best in committee, best freshman, etc. were highly prized since they were voted by the members of the legislature themselves.
The award reads, "Ye Olde Cracker Barrel" and was presented at the "Cracker Politics" awards dinner.
