Jefferson County State of Florida Jan 25 1867 Know all men by these presents G. W. Gelzer held and firmly bound to the United State of America by these presents in contract that is is to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined freed laborers quarters, fuel, habitual rations and I agree to give all no one over Twelve dollars and fifty cts per month for the year 1867 ending Jan the 1st 1868. I also agree to give three lbs of meat, a pint of syrup and peck of meal per diem, all surplus portions of families not in contract to be paid at the expense of the freedmen owning them. The said labours are to labor faithfully on the plantation six days during the week in the manner customary on the plantation. Said persons to forfeit their wages if they should leave the plantation for one week without permission. All differences to be settled by the Bureau.
