State of Florida Jefferson County February 3d 1867 Articles of agreement made & entered into this day between James S. Russell of the first part and the undersigned Laborers of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of one hundred and fifty dollars a year for each of us, are to make a first class hand on the plantation known as the Call plantation, owned by the party of the first part, and if we fail to perform the work of a first-class hand, then the party of the first part is to pay them according to their ability or in proportion to the amount of work they do. Say if one fails to make only one third or one half hand, they are to receive in proportion or ratio making one hundred and fifty dollars the basis for a number one hand.
