GUAVAS ARE GOOD FOR YOU-
O THEY ARE RICH IN VITAMIN C Guavas are especially rich in vitamin C- the vitamin that keeps gums healthy and the walls of the blood vessels strong. Guavas are the best source of this vitamin known; they have about four times as much as oranges or grapefruit. So in summer, when oranges are scarce and expensive, save the oranges for the babies, and eat guavas.
O EAT THEM RAW NOW Eat them plain, as you would and apple. Slice them, and eat them with cream and sugar. Make them into guava shortcake.
O CAN SOME TO EAT LATER Long cooking destroys the vitamin C. So use as little cooking as possible. Ask your home demonstration agent, home economics teacher, or Farm Security supervisor how to can them properly. Jellies, jams, and butters have little or no vitamin C left. Eat them for flavor, but not for vitamin C.
