U.S.S. Tampa, Boston, Mass.
Dear Folks at home,-
This finds us in Boston. Reached here last night ver[?] pleasant trip. Are laying alongside of th[?] [?]ld frigate Constitution ("Old Iron Sides" Hen of [?] sea fights. Her history is sufficient [?] stir the feelings of even the least patriot[?] Hope we do as well.
I wired [?]ney to pay the taxes on the 4th so it will reach there in time. We have not been paid yet but expect it tomorrow. Will send a large amount of it home. Hope this finds you all better than when we heard from you last. Am quite worried about things there. It will be harder
