Dear Priscilla & Patricia:
It was sweet of you, Priscilla, to drop me a personal note, and I truly appreciated it. It is often that you write letters, you & Patricia, to the both of us that I may see by chance or I may not get an opportunity to read them at all. Even Mama had opened the letter addressed to me.
You will please forgive me for not getting to see you Easter Sunday, but my spirit was with you. Eunice, Cookie, and Nell were to go to Pittsburgh for the [weekend] to start rounding up my brother's affairs. They wanted me to be with them and one sent the cost of plane fare up. It was a great opportunity for the four of us to get together as we are the last remaining four of a large family. My niece, Dr. Gloria C. Onque, lives in Pittsburgh her husband is an architect and she has two very adorable children - a girl and a boy. We all had sort of a family reunion. Of course Nell, Cookie, and I got in a lot of Pinochle and Eunice would join us for games of bridge. I left Miami on Thursday night (Friday morning really) so we were able to spend Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday together. I left Pittsburgh Monday night and got to Miami Tuesday morning in time to drive home, was the car (that was very dirty after being on the parking lot for the [four days]), get a good bath and get to school by 7:30 A.M. I did very [little] sleeping on the four hour plane trip, going and returning. --- I was able to put aside many things for Walter that he might be able to use next year in school, such as; eight pairs of shoes, two overcoats, handkerchiefs, ties, one suit, one pair trousers, and some shirts. They are all in excellent condition for the most part. I had it all sent to Atlanta on the Van that is taking some of Bert's furniture home for Nell's use in her (our) family home. Eunice sent some of the furniture to her home in Brooklyn.
Seems that things have [quieted] down a little. It seems to me that the American case parallels with the African case. You will never know what the future holds. You two have received so many nice letters from people, some who are in action and some who are expressing sympathy which most likely will be the end of it. The actioners will come forward to the front again.
I will be most happy to see you two when you do get home, and it seems that May 6th just can't come soon enough. It will mean freedom for you from being cooped up in jail, but it will also start a sort of new life for you, so you must both be prepared to accept [whatever]happens to come, just don't fool yourselves and look for all good and rosy, there will be some of the other, too
Mama went to Clewiston this morning after work. She was scheduled to be the main speaker, not that but to introduce the main speaker, that is, if she was not too late. I am sure she will drive on over to Fort Myers, as that place has a great attraction for her.
One of my teachers was to have had a Concert at school (here) today. She had flowers for most all of her fellow teachers, but, as once before no one came to the recital. She plans to try it again next Sunday.
Rev. Fayson leave for California this Friday. I will have charge of the Church services while he is away. He has begged up enough money to make the round trip, and he is taking Mrs. Fayson, too.
I am getting worried about Walter. He sleeps too much for a boy his age. He goes to bed when he gets home from school. He does have a 5:30 A.M. job that keeps him busy for about 1 1/2 hours, but even at that, he sleeps absolutely too much.
Guess there is no more room to write, so I must close here with my sincere love to both of you. Write me again, soon.
