Dear Miss Stephens,
Your letter appearing in the CORE-lator prompted me to write to you and your fellow students. I'm not at all sure that you will be permitted to receive a letter judging by the events that have taken place.
You are doing a courageous act and one that will be remembered in history. The hope of many of us in the west is that your hardships and sufferings will not be in vain but will serve a real link in assuring true justice and equal rights for all.
Although I consider myself a pacifist I feel such contempt and hatred for those policemen who have treated you in such a manner. I admire your continued pacifistic actions.
I am not sure how much time remains of the 60-day sentence but I want you to know that many concerned people like myself are with you there in spirit and believe in what you are doing. I hope this will give you some small comfort in the difficult days ahead.
