Dear Priscilla, -

As I have just learned that your expires in a few days, I am hastening to write to you. I have delayed doing this until I could see Mr. Sears and report to you that I had done so. It took three attempts to find him at home, the last one having lead to a pleasant call with him, from which I have just returned. He tells me that he plans to escort you when you make your jail exit. I quite enjoyed talking with him. He expressed an interest in Gunnar Myrdal's "An American Dilemma," so I got this for him out of the local public library. For some crazy reason he is not permitted to patronize the library.

It will seem good to you to be out from behind bars. I assure you you will remember proudly your present situation. Further I prophesy that you will live to see Jim Crow DEAD and you will be justified in feeling that you contributed to his demise.

If you should come to Fort Myers do let me know as I want to meet you. I am leaving for the north about May 25.
