The lyrics to this song were written by Frank Papy Woodward, a prominent Tallahassean who became known as a writer and poet. The song was written especially for the 1924 Florida Centennial Celebration in Tallahassee. The melody was by George A. Miller and the music was written and arranged by Edith C. Barrows. The cover image shows the 1824 log cabin where Tallahassee was selected as the capital city of Florida and the Capitol building as it appeared in 1924.
