Roxcy Bolton was known as Dade County's "Pioneer Feminist." She was an organizing member of the Democratic Women's Club in 1957 and the charter president of the Dade County chapter of the National Organization for Women in 1969, and also served as national vice president of N.O.W. She founded the Rape Treatment Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1974 and other programs for women in distress. Later inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame in 1984. Founded the Women's Park in Miami in 1992, the first park dedicated to women in the United States.
