Biographical Note
Photography studio owner Richard Emile Resler was born in Austria in March 1865. Immigrated with parents and two brothers to Baltimore, USA in 1867. Moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1884 and worked in photography studio with Henry Preston Brooks. Joined the Socialist Party in 1891, moved to Mexico in 1892 and opened a photography studio in Mexico City but moved back to Brooklyn in 1894. Married Mary Webber Brooks, daughter of Henry Preston Brooks, in 1896. Separated and moved to West Palm Beach in 1897. Divorced in 1909, he married his brother Arthur's widow Johanna. Mr. Resler ran for the office of Commissioner of Education for Florida on the Socialist ticket in 1914. Died 1946 in West Palm Beach.
