Description

Minutes of the Florida Board of Immigration, established by an act of the Legislature in 1877. The Board's mission was to organize a Bureau of Immigration to advertise Florida and especially its vacant public lands to potential settlers and investors. Members of the Board included the Commissioner of Immigration, the Attorney General, and the Comptroller. The minutes primarily document the Bureau's finances and selection of personnel, but they also reveal some elements of the Bureau's strategies for attracting attention to the state.
