Description
Memorial to Congress requesting that armed settlers, accustomed to frontier life and experienced in battle with Native Americans, be enticed to settle on the Florida frontier within a string of fortified settlements as a strategy to bring the Second Seminole War to a close. The memorial also requests that Congress consider the importance of internal improvements in Florida, such as railroads and canals, and the defense of port cities.
