General Note

Chapter 1440, No. 876, was an act aimed at establishing regulations for the movement of honeybees and beekeeping equipment in Volusia County. It prohibited the shipment of honeybees in log gum hives, which are difficult to inspect, as well as other forms of hives. The act also required inspections for used equipment to ensure it was free from diseases and required non-Volusia County taxpayers pay an annual inspection fee of one dollar per hive. Finally, the act also authorized the Board of County Commissioners of Volusia to appoint a Bee Inspector.
