General Note
The Board initiated a midwife licensing program in 1931 to reduce infant mortality and to promote maternal and child health.

"Part of a group of 35 women and girls meeting once a week at the colored health center. Instruction is given to them in the care of infants by Nurse McGreen of the Leon County Health Unit. They have all had a physical examination and blood test. Four of this group secured positions due to the interest of the Leon County Health Unit."
