Physical Description
General Note
Sign reads, " Rosin vat - The pure rosin was collected after clarification in this V-shaped vat, from which it was dipped into a perforated trough set upon empty rosin barrels. When the barrels were filled, the trough was rotated to the next set of empty barrels. Rosin was the most important by-product of the distilling process. It was used in caulking wooden ships, in explosives, for making soaps, and as a sizing in the manufacture of paper."
