This subseries of the Call Papers consists of the journal of Richard Keith Call. The bulk of the journal appears to be in the handwriting of Ellen Call Long, daughter of Richard Keith Call. Bound together at an unknown date, the journal also contains documents that appear to be written by Richard Keith Call, as well as a small number by unknown authors.

The first part of the journal consists of Richard Keith Call’s writings, copied by Ellen, on his early life up to the War of 1812. The second part of the journal is Ellen’s writings about various events experienced by her father or herself. The section attributed to Ellen was based primarily on conversations with her father. The journal should be considered a companion to Ellen Call Long’s Florida Breezes (first published in 1883), and other manuscript materials written by Richard and Ellen that reside within the Richard Keith Call Papers.
