[Duplicate] State of Florida County of Jefferson Agreement made between William J. Bailey of said county and the undersigned freedmen & laborers. The said William J. Bailey hereby hires the said freedmen to work & labor on his plantation for the year 1867, and agrees to give them the one half (1/2) of all the crops made and housed by them in said year. In consideration of the above, the said freedmen undersigned hereby hire themselves to said William J. Bailey to work on his plantation for the year A.D. 1867 for their part agree & bind themselves as follows: They agree to feed and [find?] themselves and further to return all the corn and fodder used in feeding the mules in said year; to obey all his orders or the orders of his agent; to be industrious & to do all work required of them; never to be insolent or impertinent; not to ride his mules or horses and each day to feed & water the mules assigned them; not to destroy or break up any of his property, and always to behave themselves well and peaceably; to keep all fences around the fields allotted them in good repair; to get out rails for that purpose; to get out rails for their mule lot & keep it up; to work six full days in each week & for absence or failure to work any day for any cause they agree to be charged one dollar for each day so lost.
