State of Florida Jefferson County This agreement entered into this day between Wm. R. Bell of the first part [and] Joshua Bell & Caesar Junius Gilett of second part witnesseth: That the said party of the first part does agree & bargain to furnish to the said parties of the second part a certain piece of land known as the "Light Ground," containing thirty acres more or less of cleared land & to furnish & feed one horse & all necessary farming implements to cultivate & cotton seed to plant the said piece of land. And the party of the first agrees to give the parties of the second part one half of the cotton which they make & gather from the said land this year (1867). And for the above named consideration the said parties of the second part do agree & bargain to prepare, plant in cotton & cultivate the said piece of land this year & also agree to pick, gin, & pack the cotton & deliver it to the said party of the first part on or before the 25th day of December next--one half of the cotton (packed in bales in good condition) that may be made on the said piece of land, & the said parties of the second part do further agree to take good care of all

stock & farming implements furnished for cultivating & gathering the crop & return everything so furnished in good condition & the said parties of the second part do hereby give to the said party of the first part a lien on their part of the crop to secure the payment of any debts that may be due from either of them to the said party of the first part. Witness our hands this fourth day of march, one thousand eight hundred & sixty seven. Signed in the presence of: S.M. Scruggs Richard Scruggs Wm. R.
