State of Florida County of Jefferson Monticello, Florida October 7, 1867 Agreement made and entered into this day between Samuel Eagle (Cooksey) & W. C. Bird. To wit: The said Bird agrees to sell & deliver unto said Eagle this day one brown mule, now being upon the plantation known as the Twinland & belonging to said Bird. Said mule is lame in the right foreshoulder, and as consideration for said mule, the said Eagle promises to pay on or before the 1st day of January 1868, the sum of ($160.0/00) one hundred and sixty dollars, and the said Samuel Eagle, as security for the payment to said Bird of $160.0/00 for said mule, agrees & hereby gives to the said W. C. Bird a first lien upon the crop belonging to said Eagle, which is upon the land of J. P. Cooksey, Esqr. And the said S. Eagle agrees and binds himself not to move or permit to be moved away from said place any of the cotton or corn belonging to him without the consent of said W. C. Bird. And if in case the money is not paid as aforesaid agreed upon, enough of said crop belonging to S. Eagle is to be taken by said [?] at the market price to pay the $160.0/00.
