Agreement entered into between Mrs. Faglie and the freedmen upon her plantation for the year 1867.
This agreement entered into this 18th of January 1867 between Mrs. Faglie of Jefferson County, State of Florida, of the one part. Oren Hagen, Daniel Hagen, Marvin Hagen, Moses Hagen, Gabriel Hagen and the other part witnesseth:
That the said laborers are to receive on the 25th day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven, one third part of all the crops made on the place after they have pastured it and made it ready for [market]. In consideration of which they are to work kindly and faithfully the usual number of hours each of the six days of the week. To obey all orders
given them by the said Mrs. Faglie and in no case, make use of the mules or other movable property without her direct permission. It shall be the duty of all the laborers at all times to take proper care of the crops, plantation tools, and farming implements. If any of the laborers shall quit the crop before it is completed, by so doing they shall forfeit all their interest in it. The lost time is to be charged at fifty cents per day and the laborers are to receive one-half of it.
