Jan. 28th 1867 Articles of agreement entered into between Mrs. M.J. Taylor and the hired hands on her plantation in the county of Jefferson, State of Florida. Embracing rules and regulations for government control and management of the plantation for the year 1867. The labourers on the place are to be remunerated at the end of the year, when the crop shall have been gathered, housed, gined, baled and made ready for market in produce in kind at the following rates (½) one half the corn, cotton, potatoes, cane, fodder, etc. 2nd. Each labourer is to work 6 days in week unless otherwise permitted by the proprietors. Each labourer is to perform any kind of plantation work which the proprietor may direct at any time during the year that she may see proper to have done. The proprietor is to furnish the land, mules, ploughs, hoes, axes, waggons and other implements necessary to carry on the work of the plantation. The hands are to furnish provisions for themselves and furnish (10) bushels of corn to the [?] for the purpose of

feeding the mules. They are also to furnish half of the rope and bagging necessary to pack the cotton. And if through the neglect, carelessness or mistreatment of any of the hands that a mule gets killed or injured in any way, he, she or whoever kills or injures it will have to pay for it and have it taken out of their share of the crop at the end of the year.
