State of Florida Jefferson County Articles of agreement made and entered into this day of Jan 1867 between W. D. Tubberville and T. J. Moore parties of the first part and James Edward and Peggy Williams, [laborers], parties of the second part witnesses: That said parties of the first and second part have this day bargained, contracted, and agreed with each other for the following purposes and on the following condition viz: Said [laborers], parties of the second party do agree and hereby bind themselves to work for said parties of the first part during the year 1867 on the plantation of Mr. K. M. Moore to cultivate corn, cotton, potatoes,and such other produce as said parties of the first part may wish to cultivate; to do any repairing of fences or horses as necessary to make or gather the crop; and to be governed, supervised, and directed in all matters pertaining to the farm by W. D. Tubberville a party of the first part; and to work faithfully and diligently in discharge of all such duties as may be assigned us by W.D. Tubberville and in case we should quit the employ of said parties of the first part before the end of the year of 1867 without a good and sufficient reason appearing to the magistrate of the district in which we live, to forfeit all that may be due us up to the time of leaving. We further agree to feed ourselves and pay one half of our proportion of the expenses necessary for making the crop. The Parties of the First Part
