State of Florida Jefferson County Articles of agreement made and entered into this 9 day of January A.D. 1867 between W.D. Tubberville & T.J. Moore employers, parties of the first part, and Peter Howell, China Robinson, Thos. Howell, Henry Williams, John Howell, Clara Dixon, Easter Dixon, Matilda Howell, laborours, parties of the second part. Witness: That said parties of the first and second part have this day bargained, contracted and agreed with each other for the following purposes and on the following conditions, viz: Said laborours, parties of the second part, do hereby agree & contract to work for the parties of the first part during the year 1867 on the plantation of Mr. K.M. Moore; to cultivate corn, cotton, potatoes & such other produce as said parties of the first part may wish to cultivate; also to do any repairing of houses or fences that may be necessary; to make or gather the crop, and to feed & take care of the team. And to be supervised, governed & directed in all matters pertaining to the work on the farm by W.D. Tubberville, a party of the first part, to work faithfully & earnestly in discharge of such duties as said W.D. Tubberville may assign us; And in case we should quit the employ of said parties of the 1st part before the end of the year, without a good and sufficient reason appeasing to the magistrate of the district in which we live, to forfeit all that may be due us up to time of leaving.
