This indenture made this seventh day of January A.D. eighteen hundred and sixty seven between S. E. Williams, party of the first part, and Abram Munroe, party of the second part, all of the county of Jefferson and State of Florida. Witnesseth that the said S. E. Williams hath rented and by the presence doth rent unto the said Abram Munroe all of certain fields of land, where the said S. E. Williams now lives, containing sixty acres more or less until the first day of January next, and he promises to furnish the said Abram Munroe three mules or horses to cultivate said land, and for going to mill and [hauling] in of the crop, and carrying to market, and all of the farming implements, and corn, and fodder, to feed said team. In consideration of which, the said Abram Munroe agrees to rent the above named land and to cultivate the same and to pay to the said S. E. Williams five bales of lint cotton weighing four hundred (400) pounds each and three hundred (300) bushels of corn and one [barrel] of syrup. None of the crop to be moved off of said place [until] said amount of cotton and corn is paid & syrup to the said S. E. Williams.
