Dear Patricia:
I have just written a letter to your sister in which I mentioned my son and his high hopes to become a first class teacher. He is also our mentor in matters musical - as you too might be in your family
There is nothing in this world to equal a young heart and a young spirit within a family as a nation. The energy and the nerve that the young contains is as stimulating as a Vivaldi piece at any spot marked con anima in full forte (the only way we hear Vivalidi, I might add, when our son is playing his tapes!)
It is as such in the symphony you youngsters are doing for our world and our time. It is grand and strong also soft and sweet. And every instrument is playing true.
In fact, old Walt Whitman wrote the following for you over one hundred years ago. He sang:
To a Certain Cantatrice Here, take this gift! I was reserving it for some hero, speaker, or General. One who should serve the good old cause, the great idea, the progress and freedom of the race: Som brave confronter of despots--some daring rebel:--But I see that what I was reserving, belongs to you...
